A Month of Celebration

March is my birth month and it's also coincidentally, International Women's month. Hence, I'd like to celebrate not just because of my birthday but also because I am at a point of my life where I am bombarded with moments of epiphany and empowerment.

So for this year's Marsobente (my birthday), I want to celebrate my life. I want to celebrate everything I've been through that made me the person that I am right now. I want to celebrate all the things - good or bad, that happened to me. I want to celebrate all the lessons I learned from all the pains and joys that I experienced along the way.

I want to celebrate all the great friends I had and still have. I want to celebrate the new people I met, the ones I crossed paths with again, and the ones I am yet to meet. I want to celebrate the people who lifted me up only to slam me down real hard. I want to celebrate the few genuine people I connected with very easily and very well. I want to celebrate the good men who liked me for who I am but I unfortunately didn't see as someone that can be more than a friend. I want to celebrate the men who made me feel that I wasn't enough and that I am nothing special. I want to celebrate the men who led me on and disappeared on me. I want to celebrate the men I wanted and admired but didn't feel the same way towards me. I want to celebrate the men who backed off because they couldn't handle my strong personality. I want to celebrate the people I hurt unintentionally . I want to celebrate the friends who became my support group during the times that I was at my weakest. I want to celebrate the new friends that I made and the old friends I reconnected with. I also want to celebrate those who were quick to judge me without bothering to ask me for an explanation and ironically still call me their "friend". I want to celebrate the friends who weren't happy for me when great things were finally happening in my life, especially on my career. I want to celebrate the friends who found it satisfying to talk about me behind my back. I want to celebrate the friends who were true and honest to me when it was easier to be otherwise.

I want to celebrate my pain. I want to celebrate the confusion and the uncertainties. I want to celebrate the frustrations and the disappointments. I want to celebrate my broken pieces and what's left of my beating heart. I want to celebrate the doubts, the lies, and the broken trust. I want to celebrate the emotional stress, the tears that I cried, and the sleepless nights. I want to celebrate the moments of realization. I want to celebrate the fact that I was not deserving of the bullshits that people threw my way. I want to celebrate the strength that I didn't know I have that helped me move forward in life. I want to celebrate the blessings that kept pouring in. I want to celebrate all the love that was given to me especially during those times that I was prolly the hardest person to love. I want to celebrate the people who took time to listen and those who had a heart to understand. I want to celebrate the new great things and people in my life. I want to celebrate the new friendships I found and the connections I built. I want to celebrate the ups after all the downs. I want to celebrate the rainbows after the storm that signified that there is still hope. I want to celebrate all the good and kind words that were told to me although until now, I still find it hard to believe.

Most of all, I want to celebrate the new me - the stronger, the wiser, and empowered version of myself. I want to celebrate the person that I have become as a result of all the good and bad things that happened in the past months.

I want to celebrate because my life, no matter how screwed up it is, is worth celebrating. I want to celebrate because I deserve this.

Of 15th of October Surprises, Frogs, and Friendships

This year’s 15th of October was the longest and most dramatic Saturday that I can remember.

It was Froggy’s birthday. Being that he’s one of my closest pals, I know how he is. He loves setting up surprises for other people but he doesn’t want the same for himself. Weird, right? As a matter of fact, his senses and radar are extra sensitive every 15th of October. His mindset is that it’s his turn to be surprised. Froggy loves spoiling surprises for him as much as he loves setting up surprises for others. Yes, that’s how he really is.

Bottom line is, we were able to surprise him for two consecutive years already. As much as he would hate to admit it, he was surprised and indeed, touched. By the way, the party lasted overnight. Venue and other arrangements were taken cared of by Marvin Oriarte (mastermind).

SURPRAAAAAAAYYYS!!

Froggy’s party was more like a reunion more than it was a birthday party. Karlo, our long(figuratively) lost friend, decided to come over.  And as much as I would hate to admit it, I really missed the guy. It’s been almost a year since our misunderstanding happened and for me, that ship has already sailed. Time really heals wounds, I guess.

P.S. Thanks to Marvin Oriarte (mastermind) for letting us use Suede Room Studio as the venue.

Boo Friday!

I was talking to an old friend awhile ago. Since he just celebrated his birthday last Sunday, I asked him a stupid question. Oo, super stupid talaga. I asked him kung anong feeling na 23 na sha. Oha! Then he asked me back… “Ready ka na ba?” I just found myself telling him that I honestly don’t care. Totoo naman e. i don’t care about Friday anymore. All I know is that I’m going to have an ordinary day.

Ang highlight lang, I’ll be on leave… thanks to Meralco’s concept of Birthday Leave. So, going back to the question, “Ready ka na ba?” The answer is Yes. Ready na ako. Ready na ako to face another ordinary day on Friday. I might even prolly have better ordinary days.

So yeah.. I say… BRING IT ON!

23rd March 20.

And I'm not really sure if there's anything to celebrate about it. I'm feeling that adulthood pressure enough already and for the first time in 5 years, my boyfriend won't be here to celebrate it with me. So tell me, is there anything happy about my birthday? Yes, it's a gift of life I know and I'm thankful for it. It's just that I know that this birthday will just be like an ordinary day.

I don't know how to make it special without Erik. =(

Lucky friday the 13th!

Friday the 13th nanaman kahapon. If I remember it right, 2nd na yan for 2009. But so far, I didn't encounter anything naman which will make me feel unlucky. As a matter of fact, I have felt super lucky during the two Friday the 13th. I have a fever yesterday, though. But it did not make me feel unlucky at all.

It was my second time to dance with my new crew last night. Comparing it to my debut dance with the group, I really think I did better. I felt more confident last night. I think I successfully redeemed myself from my not-so-great performance at Rockwell last, last month. And I'm so happy na finally, may video na nung dance. At least may mapapakita na ako kay Erik. Weeee!

This is a super tiring week for me and I'm sooo happy that this week's almost over. Finally, I'll get to have some rest and some time to relax and hopefully, finish my room makeover.

P.S. I'll be turning 23 next Friday.. should I celebrate that or what? Hmmm..

my effin' birthday

Let's get this straight to the point. Fine. My birthday sucked. I didn't even feel that this was my day. It's sad to say but I honestly think I've had better ordinary days than this one. I won't pretend that I'm okay because clearly, I'm not. This day was really, really depressing.

I didn't hear anything from those who I thought won't forget my birthday. Maybe partly it's also my fault because I expected. But don't I have a right or a basis, at least.. I mean, I've been friends with those people since elementary and they've always remembered. Worse, there were some of my close friends who texted me some quotes and asked about some other things. I was hoping that they'd remember but they didn't.

My birthday sucked big time.
There was no happy birthday for me this year.

ishmaburdei

Imma party coz it's my birthday. Yeah right.. It's my first birthday na holy week. ANd because it's holy week, my celebration is not until after the lenten season. Okay na rin.

I was wide awake until 12 midnight last night para shempre salubungin ang bisperas ng 22nd year ko sa mundong ibabaw. I was just a little sad coz for the first time, my parents slept early and wasn't able to greet me at exactly 12 midnight. Si utol lang ung gising. What made the situation worse was that even Erik was sleeping already. Hehe. What a way to start my birthday. It was quite depressing but I was okay na. Sayang ang araw kung magmumukmok lang ako dahil sa mga sad things na nangyari kagabi.

It's still quite early to say kung ano kahihinatnan ng birthday ko but I really hope that this day would be very special despite the lenten season. Hindi man makagimik or makalabas to celebrate, sana maging happy pa rin. I mean, marami sana ang makaalala. Wish me luck.

Imma post an update later, that's for sure. Korny documentation lang ng day ko. Hehe.
