On loving my job

Here's something work-related for a change. See, my boss is Joe Zaldarriaga. He's the spokesperson of Meralco and the Head of Meralco's Corporate Communications - Public Information Office (PIO). He handles interviews about issues that involve the company.

After more than 8 years in the business center, I was able to transfer to Sir Joe's team. I now work as a Corporate Communications Associate since December of last year. Since I am already experienced in handling customer concerns, I always help him craft his statements during interviews. I do the necessary research and coordination and I often accompany him. That has been one of my major roles in the team.

I remember a few months ago, he mentioned that he will soon be assigning us some of his interviews, depending on what it is about. Of course, customer-related concern was assigned to me. True enough, the unimaginable happened.

Last April 17, I was interviewed via phonepatch for the first time. Luckily, it was just about a busted streetlight which took awhile to be repaired. Whew. It was nerve-wracking. I felt my fingers go numb while I was talking to Julius Babao. It was then that I realized that my boss's job is so much harder than I imagined it to be. One wrong word/statement can and may cause an impact on Meralco's image as a company.

Sir Joe said that my voice had a good register on air and contrary to how I think I sounded, he said I sounded friendly. He also said that I did good so I guess it's safe to assume that I did not say anything wrong during the interview because honestly, I was really panicking inside during the interview and I can't remember most of the things I said on air after so I really wasn't sure if I did well but since Sir Joe said that I did good then I just have to take his word for it. Gotta be used to this.

True it is that when you love your job, it loves you back. I'm excited and nervous all in one breath. *big smile*

Promotion is Sweeter the 2nd Time Around :)

Finally, the result of my technical exam was released earlier today! The result? Let’s just say, GOD IS GOOD!! I am so happy like a happy meal. Lol.

After almost two months of waiting, I finally got what I have been praying for - my second promotion! (Yes, the exclamation point is really necessary. Lol.) Finally. Thank you, Lord. Since I waited for almost two months, I cannot help but nurse a sort of “panic” about the result of my exam. Out of sheer desperation, I remember forwarding every single silly chain text message that I received while waiting for the long overdue result. But today, I feel like I am salvaged.

I feel so much better now because earlier this week, I was full of doubts - questioning my decisions, and my judgment. I, for awhile, felt like I am heading to the unknown without a plan for a good monumental escape.

The timing was really perfect. God is really good. When you are at what you can consider a low point of your life, He hugs you with this kind of good things to remind you that everything is worth it and that all else will be okay.

Thank you, God.

Back to work for tomorrow ONLY.

Yes, I'll be back for work tomorrow. Will finally get to wear my uniform again. Heehee. I'll be reporting tomorrow at the office then that's the last of it for this week. Though I am thinking of working on Saturday (morning) just so I can start dealing with my back logs. Boo! I am supposed to attend the Day 2 of the next batch's WIT seminar this Friday so I can get a certificate for finishing the WIT seminar series. But apparently, there's a conflict again with my sched. Grabe, mabenta lang. The management released a memo just this morning calling all the attention of the 2008-2009 CRS hirees for a whole-day seminar at the main office. Attendance is mandatory, I suppose, so that means Imma kiss my WIT certificate goodbye. OUCH. I just wish I can work it out with the WIT coordinator. Maybe they can give me a consideration. My schedule's not my call, after all. Saklap lang oh. I will only miss one day but see the effect it will have on me. Sisihin ang HRD!! Ohwell, I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

By the way, here are some of the pics taken at the seminar. It was by far the coolest seminar I had in Meralco. Kwela yung mga kasama namin. We just had fun. Puro kalokoahan, gaguhan, hiritan, at pictures lang ginawa namin. Yeah!

I met Lady President

I met Lady President the day I started caring about stockings. Yes, I finally got my uniforms. After six months from when La Marina got our measurements! Ang tagal men. Good thing the uniforms fitted me well.




The long wait was finally over. And good thing my mom has lots of stockings. Bad thing, I didn't like the color that much so I had to buy new ones. Then, I met Lady President. :D
